Obese child's custody case shines spotlight on nation's failure(2011-12-18) Gearing, MItem Open Access 80 years of trade-offs in college sports(2009-11-27) Clotfelter, CItem Open Access A (0,2) Mirror DualityPlesser, Ronen; Bertolini, MarcoWe construct a class of exactly solved (0,2) heterotic compactifications, similar to the (2,2) models constructed by Gepner. We identify these as special points in moduli spaces containing geometric limits described by non-linear sigma models on complete intersection Calabi--Yau spaces in toric varieties, equipped with a bundle whose rank is strictly greater than that of the tangent bundle. These moduli spaces do not in general contain a locus exhibiting (2,2) supersymmetry. A quotient procedure at the exactly solved point realizes the mirror isomorphism, as was the case for Gepner models. We find a geometric interpretation of the mirror duality in the context of hybrid models.Item Open Access A Congenital Cause of Recurrent Pneumonia in an Adult(2018-07-21) Wahid, Lana; Icard, Bradley; Pelleg, Tomer; Ie, Susanti; Loschner, AnthonyPulmonary sequestration is a rare congenital abnormality especially in the adult population. It can commonly present as a cause for recurrent pneumonia or be found incidentally as an adult on imaging. We present a case of left lower lobe celiac trunk pulmonary sequestration in the setting of recurrent pneumonia to include histoplasmosis.Item Open Access ADAPTIVE DYNAMICS THEORETICAL BEHAVIORISM Orientation, Reflexes, Habituation, Feeding, Search and Time Discrimination(2001) Staddon, JohnPreface Chapter 1: THEORETICAL BEHAVIORISM: AIM and METHODS Chapter 2: ADAPTIVE FUNCTION, I: THE ALLOCATION OF BEHAVIOR Chapter 3: ADAPTIVE FUNCTION, II: BEHAVIORAL ECONOMICS Chapter 4: TRIAL-AND-ERROR Chapter 5: REFLEXES Chapter 6: HABITUATION and MEMORY DYNAMICS Chapter 7: MOTIVATION, I: FEEDING DYNAMICS and HOMEOSTASIS Chapter 8: MOTIVATION, II: A MODEL FOR FEEDING DYNAMICS Chapter 9: MOTIVATION, III: FEEDING and INCENTIVE Chapter 10: ASSIGNMENT of CREDIT Chapter 11: STIMULUS CONTROL Chapter 12: SPATIAL SEARCH Chapter 13: TIME, I: PACEMAKER-ACCUMULATOR THEORIES Chapter 14: TIME, II: MULTIPLE-TIME-SCALE THEORY Chapter 15: TIME, III: MTS and TIME ESTIMATION Chapter 16: AFTERWORD ReferencesItem Open Access ALA Poster Presentation of Making it Look Easy - the Magic of Maintaining Access(2014-06-23) Healy, C; Samples, JItem Open Access CITRATE DISSOLUTION OF BETA-2-MICROGLOBULIN AND AMYLOID BETA PEPTIDE (1-40) AGGREGATES(2018-11-22) Goldberg, JSItem Open Access CITRATE RESORPTION OF BONE AS A TREATMENT FOR SPINAL STENOSIS(2017-04-11) Goldberg, JSItem Open Access Item Open Access COHERENT ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES AID RECONCILIATION(2016-10-20) Goldberg, JSItem Open Access DECALCIFICATION OF PASTURE GRASS FOR FOOD AND FUEL(2016-09-22) Goldberg, JSItem Open Access Decolonizing Middle East Men and Masculinities Scholarship: An Axiomatic ApproachHasso, FrancesAnalytical Review Essay of Middle East Masculinities Scholarship since 2011.Item Open Access Deondra Rose on the Ethical Obligation of Scholars to Preserve DemocracyChiscop Head, EmiliaInterview with Deondra Rose, Associate Professor at the Sanford School of Public Policy with secondary appointments in the Department of Political Science and the Department of History.Item Open Access Developing a State-Level Natural and Working Lands Climate Action Plan(2022-10-13) Warnell, Katie; Olander, LydiaNatural and working lands—forests, wetlands, coastal, and agricultural lands—provide many benefits, including supporting key economic sectors, enhancing community resilience to hazards such as fires and floods, and contributing to climate mitigation by storing large amounts of carbon. North Carolina recently completed a Natural and Working Lands Climate Action Plan with recommendations for conserving, restoring, and managing these lands to preserve and enhance their benefits. This guide, aimed at other states interested in developing similar action plans, walks through the planning process, helpful resources, and the tracking of plan implementation—using examples from North Carolina’s experience.Item Open Access Digital source imperialism and the Arab world(2016) Mestyan, AThe term “digital imperialism” has been commonly used to describe cases where digital products transform social customs, but I use the term “digital source imperialism” here to refer to those who seek to control or monopolize access to digital products that belong to the public domain.Item Open Access Donald Trump Must Face Federal Charges(2022-07-19) Koonz, ClaudiaA look back at the Weimar Republic should teach us a lesson about bringing insurrectionists to justiceItem Open Access Duke Mathematics Professional Development Program for Mathematics Graduate StudentsBraley, Emily; Bookman, Jack; Akin, VictoriaThe purpose of this document is to share materials, in an organized way, from the graduate student professional development (PD) program in the Mathematics Department at Duke University. It's about my Grandfather, David Bialer (who was forced to work as an engraver for the Nazis), his wife Bella and daughter Mira who were killed in the Holocaust, and a photograph I’ve never seen but will always remember: “a broken forensics, inadmissible in any court, engraved into my imagination.”Item Open Access For a Hacker's Perspective on the Social Forums(2005-02-23) Kaufman, M
