Research in my lab concerns the means by which adolescents and emerging adults manage
pursuit of their goals through self-regulation. We take a broad view of self-regulation,
accounting for the separate and interactive influences of personality, environment
(e.g., home, school, neighborhood), cognition and emotion, and social influences on

Professor in Population Health Sciences
Matt Maciejewski, PhD is a Professor in the Department of Population Health Sciences.
He is also a Senior Research Career Scientist and Director of the Non-randomized Design
Lab in the Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation
at the Durham VA Medical Center. Matt also holds Adjunct Professor appointments in
the Schools of Public Health and Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel

Professor in Population Health Sciences
Dr. Bryce Reeve is a Professor of Population Health Sciences and Professor of Pediatrics
at Duke University School of Medicine. He also serves as Director of the Center for
Health Measurement since 2017. Trained in psychometric methods, Dr. Reeve’s work
focuses on assessing the impact of disease and treatments on the lives of patients
and their caregivers. This includes the development of clinical outcome assessments
using both qualitative and quantitative methods, and
