Description
Aristides Patrinos, telephone interview by Kathryn Maxson and Robert Cook-Deegan,
conducted from Durham, NC, 1 September 2011. Patrinos served as the Acting Director
of the Office of Biological and Environmental Research (OBER) in the U.S. Department
of Energy (DOE), Office of Science, from 1993-1995, a position he obtained permanently
in March of 1995. In this role, Patrinos held responsibility for the biological and
environmental research efforts within DOE, including the HGP. Patrinos’ predecessors,
Charles DeLisi and David Galas, launched this effort within DOE in the 1980’s. This
