Masahira Hattori, e-mail interview by Kathryn Maxson, 26 July 2012. At the time of
the first Bermuda meeting, Masahira Hattori was a team leader of the four-team Japanese
Human Genome Sequencing Project funded by the Japan Science and Technology Corporation
(JST) of the Science and Technology Agency. When the project was relocated to the
RIKEN Genomic Sciences Center in 1998 under the leadership of Yoshiyuki Sakaki, Hattori
remained a team leader from 1999-2002. This transcript is available beginning 1 July
