Full text of masters thesis by Deirdre Parsons (Duke '07, Masters in Genetics and Microbiology) about the intellectual property history of the Illumina high-throughput SNP Genotyping bead array technique. This work covers the invention discovery at Tufts University, David Walt's decision to patent, the decision to license exclusively to Illumina, Inc., and the subsequent success of the company. Approximately 400 pages long.
