dc.description

Hans Lehrach, telephone interview by Kathryn Maxson, conducted from Durham, NC, 10 April 2012. Hans Lehrach conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University before taking positions at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg (1978-1987), the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) in London (1987-1994), and finally the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics (MPI-MG) in Berlin (1994-present), the last of which he has directed since 1994. One of the three sequencing centers of the German Human Genome Sequencing Consortium, part of the German Human Genome Project (DHGP), was located at the MPI-MG. Lehrach thus played a key role in liaising with the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) when the Bermuda Principles were proposed as policies for all of the HGP sequencing centers. This transcript is available beginning 9 July 2018.
