Alejandra Salemi
Alejandra Salemi is a Doctoral student in Population Health Sciences at Duke University. She is passionate about the intersection of public health and religion and wants to further explore how religion is a social determinant of public health. Some of her specific research interests include improving the measurement of religiosity, understanding how religiosity could be both a risk and/or protective factor for health outcomes and understanding theological understandings of health decisions and behaviors in populations. She is also curious about creating theologically-compatible health education for religious communities.
She is a recent graduate of Harvard University, with a Master of Theological Studies with a focus of Religion, Ethics, and Politics and also holds a Bachelor and Master of Public Health from the University of Florida.
She is a candidate for ordination in the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church. Alejandra is the host of The Healing Theology podcast, which highlights how religion and public health interact in the world through episodes highlighting experts, researchers, and professionals working in this intersection. You can find the podcast on all major platforms or through this link: https://rss.com/podcasts/healingtheology/
