dc.description.abstract

This review discusses Serge Margel's book, Arqueologias do fantasma: técnica, cinema, etnografia, arquivo(2017). The book is the result of seven conferences held in Brazil between 2015 and 2016 and offers a deep reflection on the transition from the 'society of the spectacle' to the 'spectral society.' It is organized into three sections that explore the ghostification of social relations, where subjects are reduced to mere objects of a discourse devoid of subjectivity. In this context, Margel's work provides a significant analysis of the role of critical theory in a social context marked by ghostification.
