| dc.description.abstract | Moores Creek National Battlefield faces growing challenges from flooding, invasive species, and the need to balance ecological restoration with preservation of a historic landscape. This project develops a science-based Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) to guide long-term decision- making across the park. The plan integrates existing management programs—including prescribed fire, mowing, and invasive species control—into a cohesive framework and emphasizes restoration of wet pine savanna and native plant communities. We provide site- specific strategies, native plant palettes, and a five-year phased implementation plan to support adaptive management. We created a GIS-based tool that enables tracking of vegetation management activities over time. Together, this VMP offers a practical, climate-informed approach to managing cultural and ecological resources in tandem. | |
