Graham Cameron, telephone interview by Kathryn Maxson and Robert Cook-Deegan, conducted from Durham, NC, 15 March 2012. Graham Cameron joined the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg in 1982 and assumed the EMBL directorship in 1986. In 1992, the EMBL council decided to form the Wellcome Trust and Medical Research Council (MRC)-funded European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), which would house the nucleotide data library run by EMBL. Cameron was the first employee of the EBI, founded in 1993 in Hinxton, UK. Its data library became one of the three international nucleotide databanks of the HGP, the depositories of choice for data governed by the Bermuda Principles. This transcript is available beginning 1 July 2014.
