Abstract
This dissertation presents three essays on the economics of regulatory oversight in the pharmaceutical industry. The first essay provides an overview of pharmaceutical inspections and evaluates the characteristics of manufacturing sites inspected frequently. The second essay, based on joint work with David Ridley and Peter Arcidiacono, studies the effect of regulatory enforcement following a bad inspection outcome on market exit. The third essay examines the behavioral impact of inspector training on post-training inspection outcomes.
